In the hectic wind down of the first half of semester, be sure to keep some space in your brain to consider SANNZ events.
Coming up first is Flux - the New Zealand and Australia student architecture congress being held this year in Adelaide 6 - 9 July. The themes are - professional identity, humanitarian need, financial crisis, climate change, natural disaster. If you haven't booked tickets yet, you've got 6 weeks to do so; it is highly recommended you head over! www.flux2011.com
Shortly after Flux is the Ohakune Design Competition, 15 - 17 July. We've revived this previous traditional trip which sees architects and students work together on a fun design brief for the weekend. Registration has opened, email treacy.shea at gmail . com to register your interest. It's $90 for earlybird SANNZ members (the first 40 people) and $110 thereafter. It is a bit of cash but this includes train transport to and from Ohakune, plus two nights accommodation! Quite a deal!
Submissions have also opened for a publication by SONA (Australian equivalent of SANNZ). The publication is called TERRA, and the theme of the 7th issue is narrative.
What else is in store for 2nd semester?
Superstudio! In August the flagship event of SANNZ will again be held in Auckland, this time at Auckland Uni.
More stutes! The Wellington sTutes went down a treat, and there will be another round held in 2nd semester.
That's it for now. Hope everyone's studies are coming along well. Best of luck for your crits!
